The Sunnyside Business Improvement District (BID) has created a plan to upgrade the Sunnyside subway station. The plan includes the installation of a functional and iconic canopy beneath the elevated station/bridge to improve the sense of place and serve as a public monument. Additionally, the proposal suggests hosting seasonal street markets under the elevated tracks to generate revenue for the BID and activate the previously underutilized space beneath the 7 train tracks.
